Skills assessments are a process to test your qualifications and work experience.
Skills assessments are issued by relevant skills assessing authorities in Australia. A skill assessing authority is an organization that checks that your skills meet the standards they set to work in a relevant occupation. An assessment is required to evidence to the Department of Home Affairs that you can actually perform the tasks you claim on your application.
Obtaining a suitable skills assessment is mandatory for some visa subclasses (and streams) and may be requested for others. In general Skill Assessments are valid 3 years from their issue date or the expiry date on the assessment.
